Having playground equipment at a daycare center is important both for children’s physical fitness and their social development. Although the importance playgrounds serve in maintaining the physical fitness of young children is generally well understood, the social importance a playground serves is sometimes less well understood. The playground setting creates important social challenges and situations for young children. Learning to “play well” with other children is an important skill that is expressed in unique ways in the playground environment. Social skills such as turn taking, dealing with close physical contact, role playing, and managing the occasional collisions between children form an important part of a playground’s social experience. The importance of well managing the social interactions between children on the playground makes the construction and safety of the playground equipment of prime importance. Daycare workers who do not have to worry about the safety of their playground equipment will be more able to focus on managing the social interactions that are occurring between young children in their care.

Saturday, April 4th, 2009Making Sure Your Day Care Has Enough for Everyone
Friday, April 3rd, 2009The most necessary thing for a good daycare center is to have all essential equipments and classroom furniture. Like for toddlers you should have soft toys, nothing that is sharp or pointed or that can be swallowed. Soft Animal toys also help children to play and learn, so make sure what kind of toy you buy. You should have spare toys and baby equipments like baby cribs so that parents are assured for their child. You should have baby furniture so that the room exudes a playful environment. Your primary duty as a care taker is to provide the child the comfort of home. Try to give the child a bed for him or her alone. So buy rest mats in good quantity. Make sure children don’t have to fight for using equipment, toys or the classroom furniture; try to give each one their own as much as possible.

Day care and nannies provide important opportunities for socialization. One of the worries that parents have when sending their child to daycare is of germ infection which is a very valid concern as kids can be careless in what they touch and eat hence special attention should be given to children who are new to daycare environment and should be taught what not to do before they get familiarized with the surrounding. The floors should be kept clean. A good sanitizer which is non toxic and has a nice fragrance should be used. It is very important to make children play games or perform other activity such as painting, writing in the right manner. A child should use a proper posture when writing or painting, these habits have to be imparted at an early age. An activity table makes sure he or she is in a nice sitting position when writing or paining. An activity table also enables you to conduct activities in groups of 3 or 4 in an orderly fashion.
A Guide to Running a Successful Day Care
Wednesday, April 1st, 2009Daycare centers are a growing business today with both parents leaving their children at daycare and pre-schools. Effective preschool education can help make all children ready to learn the day they start school. Hence the kind of learning they receive from daycare becomes vital; a daycare shouldn’t just be a place where parents feel their child is safe but a place which is like a second home to the child. A child can learn and play with other kids. A teacher may not love a child, but certainly can "care for" a child as well as a parent. The ability to care for children is a learned skill; it is neither innate nor genetic. Daycare centers should have outdoor plays under supervision of a teacher. There are specific outdoor activities and games which are recommended for children of different age groups. The playground shouldn’t be over crowded with playing equipments and should have space for children to run and have fun and frolic. The ground should be protected so that children don’t go outside the playing area. There are a lot of interesting playing equipments you can choose from the basic see saw, sandboxes, swings, bouncies, slides or you can make stuff on your own like get a big pipe which kids can crawl through, or other things as long they are safe for children.
